Throughout the year, Screen Door Film hosts screening events that provide exposure to amazing independent films, along with thought provoking panel discussions with filmmakers, historians and other notable experts. We believe that we provide a unique and valuable service to the Central Texas community, and we hope that you agree.
We're asking for a $9 donation (the price of one ticket to your local megaplex) to keep Screen Door rolling into 2010 and beyond.
Pledges can be made via the Google Checkout link below. Or we would be delighted to accept a check, mailed to:
Screen Door Film
5429 Rayburn Lane
Austin, TX 78723
Checks should be made payable to "Salvage Vanguard Theater" (our non-profit partner) who then distributes all funds directly to Screen Door.
During the 2009 program, we had six free screening events on the campus of St. Edward's University:
The Unforeseen, Happiness Is, They Killed Sister Dorothy, At The Death House Door, The Whole Shootin' Match and Tattooed Under Fire.
Our post-screening panelists included such notable participants as filmmakers Laura Dunn and Andrew Shapter, actor Sonny Carl Davis, musician Sara Hickman, historians H.W. Brands, Alison Macor and Louis Black, and important community members like Rev. Carroll Pickett, Sister Donna Jurich, David Stang, Alan Graham from Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Save Our Springs Director Bill Bunch and Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty Director Kristin Houle.
We're currently preparing for our 2010 program, and I can tell you it's very bit as solid as 2009. As you can imagine, running an operation like this has some costs involved, and we humbly ask that if you attended a Screen Door event this year or in the past, and/or if you have a burning desire (like we do) to provide an open community forum where these great independent films can be seen and discussed, please consider a donation to our cause.
Proceeds are collected by our non-profit partner, the Salvage Vanguard Theater, and then all funds will be distributed directly to Screen Door Film to prepare for our 2010 program. We would happily accept donations of any amount, and your pledge is fully tax deductible.
As always, Screen Door Film thanks you for your support of independent film in Texas!
Best,
Ryan Long
